JOHN DONNE AND WILLIAM BLAKE


william blake:- William Blake was born in London, he was an English poet and painter and engraver. william blake not had a formal education but he reads Shakespeare and Milton. blake was very familiar with the bible. he is largely self-educated, his talent was recognized early. blake was apprenticed to an engraver.

The purpose of William Blake was his art is primarily didactic.  blake abhorred the materialism and rationalism of his times. Blake mystical stone and revolutionary attitude were out of step with the times.

His works are:-
 1. Poetical Sketches (1783) poetry is considered as  a best lyrical work
2. songs of innocence (1789)
3. songs of experience (1794)

in these two major collections are 1.'The lamb' 
2.'The little black boy' 3. 'The Tyger' 
4. 'The Chimney Sweeper' this poem celebrates the simple innocence of childhood and misuse of child
John Donne:-

John Donne was born in 1572 in England.  he was an English poet who considered has the pre-eminent representative of the metaphysical poets. his works are noted for his strong and sensual style and include sonnets. he has written love poems, Latin translations, religious poems, and elegies. most of the Donne's works were available in manuscript form in his lifetime but was not published till after his death.

 at the age of twenty Donne studied law at Lincoln's Inn. in 1590 Donne wrote most of his love lyrics, erotic verse, and some sacred poems. john donne died in 1631 March 31 in London
